life, money
I love when I can leverage creativity to solve a problem instead of fixing it with cash. It feels really fun to be able to fix and mend things, and find creative ways to recycle the things I already own.
My daughter loves going to the creek by our house to try to catch minnows. She used to have a net, but it broke, and I wanted to get her a new one. When my roommate put a lace curtain in the Good Will, box, I knew I had the answer!
I took a bamboo pole I had harvested when someone was cleaning out their yard, a piece of copper wire that I had been given on a job site, the lace curtain, and some electrical tape. I made a rough half circley thing with the lace, sewed it up, put tape on the end of the wire so I could push it through the little sleeve I’d made around the rim of the net, and then attached the copper to the pole with tape. She was so excited when I picked her up from school with pole in hand to take her on a trip to the creek.
